Story

Boschendal is one of the oldest, most iconic Wine Estates in South Africa.
Nestled in the picturesque valley of the Cape Winelands, with over 330 years of winemaking tradition, they carefully craft each of their award winning wines for you to enjoy.

Opera Tasting Notes

Pair the characterful and complex Nicolas blend with the powerful and passionate aria "Nessun Dorma" from Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot. Just as the blend harmonizes diverse grape varieties into something exceptional, this aria, with its rich, dramatic crescendos and depth, complements the wine's intricate layers—spicy Shiraz, structured Cabernet Sauvignon, vibrant Malbec, and smooth Merlot. The aria's emotional intensity mirrors the blend’s bold flavours and intricate structure, creating a symphony of taste and sound that elevates your wine experience.

Food Pairing

Dishes such as seared salmon with lemon and herb butter, grilled chicken with vegetables or citrus marinade, shrimp or mussel dishes or salads with rocket, parmesan and citrus dressing are great options to accompany this wine.

Wine Makers Note

Nicolas is made from hand-harvested grapes primarily from cool-climate Stellenbosch and Elgin regions. The grapes undergo gentle vinification, followed by 14 to 16 months of aging in French oak barrels, with 30% new oak used to enhance its refined character.
